Christopher J. Ferguson, a 1984 mechanical engineering
graduate, spoke at the University's Accepted Students Day
program. Commander Ferguson is scheduled to pilot NASA's
STS-115 mission, which is planned to launch in the fall.
He was selected by NASA in 1998 and is stationed at the
Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Christopher Holland, a 2003 computer science graduate,
and Lawrence A. James, a 2002 information science and technology
graduate, also spoke to accepted students. Holland and James
are co-founders of the Philadelphia software company Connexus
Technology. Established in 2003, Connexus designs Web-based
software solutions that help organizations improve business
processes. The Connexus client base includes large organizations
and companies such as Drexel, Aramark and United Way.
The Accepted Students Day program also included the announcement
of the 2005 Presidential Scholarship recipients. This year,
34 accepted students received the award.
